Civil Rights Leadership Program

The Maryland Commission on Civil Rights'​ Civil Rights Leadership Program (CRLP) is a complimentary academy aimed at nurturing emerging leaders. We offer a comprehensive and supportive educational setting where participants can interact with seasoned Civil Rights and Social Justice leaders, Maryland and Local Legislators, scholars, and practitioners. The program focuses on educating participants about civil rights laws, exploring various topics within Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and discussing career pathways and opportunities in these fields.

Program structure

  • Duration: 8 weeks
  • Format: Interactive workshops, lectures, group activities, and community projects
  • Assessments: Reflection assignments, action plans, and a capstone project

Eligibility

This program welcomes scholars currently enrolled in any Maryland college or university who have an interest in Civil Rights Leadership, Law, Advocacy, Human Relations, and Equal Employment Opportunity. Individuals aged 18-24 who are interested in becoming social justice advocates or change agents within their communities are also encouraged to apply.​
